Golf and Tyler Adams lunches key to Brenden Aaronson settling at Leeds United

Brenden Aaronson has played down a preferential position as he eyes a starting spot in the United States Men's National Team in Qatar. The Leeds United playmaker has impressed at Elland Road since arriving from RB Salzburg in the summer, very much as an unknown quantity to the Whites' faithful.

There's plenty of competition for places in the final third but with Tim Weah and Yunus Musah both injured, it gives Gregg Berhalter an opportunity to play Aaronson on the wing of in a central area.

“And for me, I think Gregg does a great job with the intro to camps and what we want to do for the camp. But I also don't think he's going to treat it [differently] as any other camp.

“We're just going to play these two games, we're going to do what we've done in all the rest of the games and we're going to try to get the results that we want. And finally that will transfer into going into the World Cup.”

The United States are one of the growing international sides in world football, with their influence now starting to impose on some of Europe's top divisions. In the Premier League, Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams and Aaronson are paving the way for others to follow.

The trio shared a moment following Leeds United's 3-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League. “After the Leeds game, me, Christian and Tyler were talking about golf, and hanging out,” Aaronson said.

“I've been on the golf grind, I have a little bit of a golf bug right now,” he revealed. “I'm lucky because in the area I am, there's like five golf courses, just different ones, and they're all over the place too.

"So it's been fun. I mean, also having Tyler there, it's been good getting used to the area, being able to go get food together.”
