Goldfields rapist Andrew Travis Giles pleads guilty to 31 charges in Kalgoorlie court

A Warburton man charged with raping two women and assaulting a third has pleaded guilty in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court in Western Australia.

Andrew Travis Giles appeared by video link from Hakea Prison on Thursday morning, where he entered guilty pleas to 31 charges.

Kalgoorlie Magistrate Andrew Matthews told those in court he would need some time to read out the full list of "very serious" charges.

It took about 30 minutes to read the counts.

They included 19 counts of committing aggravated sexual penetration without consent in the course of a home burglary, six charges of committing aggravated indecent assault without consent in the course of a home burglary, and two counts of attempted aggravated sexual penetration without consent.

Giles only spoke when asked to enter his pleas.

He responded "guilty" to each one.

The 30-year-old was charged with six offences in August, but that number increased to 31 in September following a police investigation.

Police said Giles had broken into three locked homes by force and attempted to enter a fourth in the early morning hours of August 1.

The court was told he was armed with household items, including a throwing dart and pitchfork, and once inside assaulted the female occupants.

They were aged between 30 and 70 years old.

Photos, prints and CCTV

At Giles's first court appearance, police prosecutor Darren Woods said the victims gave evidence to help identify the offender.

He said Giles was found wearing inside-out blood-stained jeans.

A latex glove containing blood was also found at the tent where he was located, the court heard.

Photographs, fingerprints and CCTV were also used to identify and charge Giles following the attacks.

He was arrested by police about four hours after the last offence and was denied bail in court the following day.

Giles's defence counsel Tony Hagar did not ask the court for any considerations and asked that the matter be moved straight to sentencing.

Mr Hagar asked the court that Giles be excused from attending the sentencing.

The case has been referred to the Kalgoorlie District Court on January 18.
