Golden Retriever cafe coming to Manchester this May bank holiday weekend

Dog lovers assemble, because this May a pop-up Golden Retriever cafe is opening in Manchester.

It comes from the team behind Pop+Bark, a much-talked about dog events and experiences company who host breed-specific cafes for dogs. Off the back of an appearance on BBC Dragons' Den, they will be bringing a Golden Retriever cafe to The Botanist at MediaCityUK for two days in May.

The pop-up event in Manchester follows the success of the Golden Retriever Cafe in London earlier this year and will take place on Bank Holiday Monday (May 1) and May 13. Described as a "80 minute off lead social experience for all", the event is open to Golden Retrievers, 'Goldie Paw-rents' and dog lovers.

The event is a chance for dog owners to meet one another and socialise over food and drink, but those who don't own Golden retrievers are also welcome to the event which includes treats for dogs and humans, cocktails - most likely just for humans - and a soundtrack of mood-boosting tunes.

Keeping both dogs and humans watered and fed, Pop+Bark will be bringing the 'world's only' Pupuccino Bar, where the Retrievers can enjoy a range of dog-friendly toppings, from fresh blueberries to peanut butter sprinkles. Rudi’s The Doggy Bakery will also serve treats for the Golden Retrievers, including their all-natural iced pupcakes, doughnuts and cookies.

And for dogs with intolerances, or just very refined tastes, there will also be a new Popcorn Bar to ensure no furry friend misses out. Meanwhile, for the humans, a delicious feast of brunch and cocktails will be served, alongside speciality teas and coffees.

For those who want to indulge in a bit of retail therapy, they can head over to The Crafty Dog Vo pop-up boutique and peruse rope leads, bandanas and bows. Elsewhere, there will be adorable dog-sized furniture so dog owners can capture some memories of the event.

Pop+Bark creators, Anushka and James, along with their furry friend Bertie the Pug, were recently featured on BBC's Dragons' Den, and won over the dragons with their innovative dog events designed to bring together a community of dog lovers. If you watch the episode back, you'll see that Bertie, and the pair's enthusiasm for the venture, won over the likes of Steven Bartlett.

For their dog cafes, there are a few ground rules, so while you can let your friendly, well socialised and vaccinated dogs off their leads once inside, they also ask you to keep an eye on them, leave no mess behind - bag and bin it - and not to bring in aggressive dogs or dogs that are in season.

Due to popular demand, organisers are putting on two events this May, and you can book tickets via the Pop+Bark website - but you might want to be fast as tickets are booking up fast for both events.
