When becoming a dog owner, you expect to become the centre of your pet's world because you're the person who takes care of them.
But despite feeding, walking and smoothing them with affection, sometimes they're more interested in spending time without you.
One owner, who is regularly 'ditched' by her dog when out on walks, has noticed how her golden retriever would rather spend time with stranger than stay by her side.
Owner Maggie Daly, from New Jersey, has shared an sweet video of her three-year-old dog "loving on complete strangers" during their trips to the beach.

The video has racked in 137,000 likes on Instagram and has received hundreds of comments from dog lovers who just can't get enough of Layla's adorable antics.
Maggie said: "She does it whenever we go to the beach, which is pretty much everyday.
"She spots a person or group of people - typically when they are sitting down - and sprints toward them and sits down either right next to them or on their lap.
"I can usually tell right away if the person or people are interested in having her invade their space or not and if they are not happy about it I call her back and she - most of the time - will come back or move on to the next group of people.
"Most people seem happy about it and will pet her, take pictures with her, throw her ball for her. She will stay with a group for as long as they give her attention and then move on to another group of people."
Having been 'loving on strangers' since she was a puppy, Maggie was anxious about her dog's behaviour at first, worried she would be bothering people.
"I thought I needed to train it out of her but now I realise most people really enjoy her running over to say hi and spread a little love and she also enjoys the extra pets and hugs," she added.
"A person even commented on the video that her son was one of the people in the video and they had recently lost their golden retriever and he was so happy and thought it was his dog’s way of saying hi."
Layla is said to have a "larger than life" personality and never fails to greet everybody who walks through her door with toys, pillows or blankets.
Commenting on the video, one user said: "It looked like first guy pulled out his phone to take a selfie and sweet pup leaned in like a pro for the picture."
While another added: "I hope I am somewhere that you are so I can get hugs."
A third said: "Your dog shares the love that you give her each day - that's a big talent and this is amazing. Sharing love -love is the key and always the answer."
