Golden Boy 2022 shortlist in full as Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool stars nominated

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United players still remain in the running for the 2022 Golden Boy award with another round of voting set to take place.

An award run by Italian outlet Tuttosport and decided on by assembled journalists rewards the best player under the age of 21 playing in a current top-flight across Europe. Voting has been taking place throughout the year with a 100-man list initially published in June.

That has been narrowed down throughout the year with reductions in July and August with another 20 players set to get shuffled out ahead of the final round of voting.

Ahead of that final shortlist being compiled, young players in the Premier League remain in the running.

Man Utd’s Anthony Elanga is among those who could yet win the award having made his Red Devils’ breakthrough last term under interim boss Ralf Rangnick. He has also been handed opportunities by Erik ten Hag this season, whilst also earning international recognition with Sweden.

Arsenal winger Marquinhos is also among the nominees. The 19-year-old made his name with Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo last term before sealing a move to The Emirates Stadium in the summer.

Despite only making one appearance for the Gunners so far this season, Marquinhos’ outing was hugely impressive having both scored and assisted a goal against FC Zurich.

Elsewhere, Liverpool have a couple of players in line to potentially win the award. Youngster Harvey Elliott remains on the shortlist having played a prominent role for the Reds over the past year, following his horrific ankle injury. The midfielder has re-established himself in the Liverpool side and has already accumulated nine appearances so far this season.

His new teammate Fabio Carvalho provides him with plenty of competition having helped former side Fulham to promotion to the Premier League last season. He already has two top-flight goals to his name during his debut campaign at Anfield.

Whilst there will be hope that any of the Premier League nominees can go on to win the Golden Boy, there are a number of established first-team stars that could be in with a better chance.

Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham looks to be among the frontrunners following a stunning year, whilst Eduardo Camavinga could be a deserved winner after playing a pivotal role in Real Madrid ’s Champions League success last season.
