Precious-metals desks at the world’s biggest banks generated record earnings in the first half of 2026, putting the industry on course for its strongest year as surging investor demand and sharp price swings created lucrative trading opportunities, Bloomberg News reported.
JPMorgan Chase, the dominant player in the market, earned about $700 million from trading and handling gold, silver and other precious metals during the first six months of the year, according to people familiar quoted by Bloomberg.
