Gold prices dipped today (Thursday, September 17, 2026), with major jewellery brands reporting lower 22k gold rates compared to the previous day. The India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) indicative rates for different gold purities and 999-purity silver also saw a decline today.
Gold outlook
Prithviraj Kothari, managing director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., president of the IBJA says, “Gold and silver prices weakened after the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time since 2023, with officials signalling one more hike this year amid persistently high inflation. Rising tensions between Saudi Arabia and Houthi rebels in Yemen kept geopolitical risk alive, offering gold some support, while easing oil-supply concerns added pressure. Technically, gold faces key support near $4,275 and resistance around $4,430–4,500, with a break lower opening the path to $4,150. Silver's head-and-shoulders pattern puts $62.5 support in focus — a breakdown could send prices toward $60 and $57, while $67 caps near-term gains.”
