Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer has only just been released worldwide, but players are already unlocking the Gold Camo for their weapons.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released worldwide on Friday, October 28, 2022 for most people, with players now able to access the single-player campaign, multiplayer and Special Ops co-op modes. Activision and Infinity Ward has also introduced a new Gunsmith section for MW2, revamping how players create their perfect loadouts.
Using the new Gunsmith menu, players can grow and upgrade their MW2 weapons by adding attachments and through weapon tuning. There's also a new Firing Range where players can test out their upgraded MW2 weapons.
But for Call of Duty players, it's not just about how the weapon performs in battle, it's also about how the weapon looks, and there are loads of cool camos and skins available for players to unlock for each weapon. One of the most popular weapon skins for MW2 so far has been the Gold Camo, with some players unlocking it already.
To unlock the Gold Camo for your MW2 weapon, you need to complete a couple of challenges. First, you need to unlock and complete the specific weapon's Base Camo challenges, which become available as you level up your chosen weapon, with up to four Base Camo challenges that need to be completed.
Once every Base Camo challenge has been unlocked and completed for that weapon, you will then be able to see a Gold Camo challenge appear. Once that Gold Camo challenge is completed, you will unlock the Gold Camo skin for that specific weapon.
To give you an example, here are the Base Camo challenges for the M4, but with the exact challenge details redacted.
- Get [REDACTED] Kills with the M4. Unlocks the [REDACTED] Camo.
- Get [REDACTED] or more Kills with the M4 without reloading [[REDACTED] times. Unlocks the [REDACTED] Camo. (Challenge unlocked at Weapon Level 7.)
- Get [REDACTED] Double Kills with the M4. Unlocks the [REDACTED] Camo. (Challenge unlocked at Weapon Level 13.)
- Get [REDACTED] Triple Kills with the M4. Unlocks the [REDACTED] Camo. (Challenge unlocked at its Max Weapon Level, Level 20.)
Once you have completed these four Base Camo challenges for the MW2 M4, that will unlock the Gold Camo challenge, which is the first Mastery Camo challenge.. Once you have unlocked the Gold Camo skin for your weapon, you can start working towards other skins such as the Platinum Camo, Polyatomic Camo and the Ultimate Mastery Camo.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation® 5, PlayStation® 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC Battle.net, and PC Steam on Friday, October 28, 2022. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is scheduled for release later this year on the same platforms.
