Many people rely on Personal Independence Payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), but there are various things that can affect whether or not you're entitled to keep receiving them. Anything from going on holiday to staying in hospital can potentially have an impact.
Some things - such as changing your name, doctor, or address, do not need to reported and won't have any effect, although you should always keep the DWP up to date with such changes in personal information. But leaving the country for more than four weeks, even if it's a holiday, can.
The DWP guidance states: “This change may affect the claimant’s entitlement to PIP. We will need to know the date the claimant is leaving the country, how long they are planning to be out of the country, which country they are going to and why they are going abroad.”
