Gogglebox star Mary Killen's swearing rant at husband Giles leaves viewers astonished

Gogglebox viewers couldn't believe their ears when a conversation between Mary Killen and Giles Wood about a supermarket quickly turned heated.

The latest episode of the Channel 4 series saw the pair tune into a new Netflix show, Beef, which prompted Giles to remark that one of the actors looked like someone who would complain in Waitrose. He said: "He'd be sent to that problem desk which I always avoid, somewhere in the middle of Waitrose where there's always people queuing and tutting."

But Mary was quick to come to the supermarket's defence, hitting back at her husband: "Oh, you're just such a b******. Waitrose is beautifully run, there's never a queue of people tutting."

As Giles jokingly asked whether his wife worked for Waitrose, viewers at home took to social media to express their shock at Mary's language. "Did I just hear Mary swear?" one disbelieving fan asked on Twitter.

Another remarked: "Mary is very defensive about Waitrose."

While some saw the funny side of the exchange, others were quick to defend Giles. "Mary!! You can’t call Giles that when you get upset at the innocuous things he says!!" one viewer tweeted.

"Mary calling Giles a b****** for complaining about Waitrose - bit harsh!" another commented.

Someone else wrote: "Blimey, Mary's not holding back tonight. Giles should have replied that she shouldn't use that language, like she does to him."

Mary's language wasn't the only thing that raised eyebrows among Gogglebox viewers during Friday's episode. Pete Sandiford left fans concerned as he tried - and failed - to demonstrate his newest method to crack open an Easter egg to sister Sophie, having tried smashing one off his head last year.

"You've got to do a ju-jitsu chop on it," he told Sophie. But the exercise once again ended painfully, with Pete shouting in pain and swearing profusely after attempting to chop the egg. "Ouch, I felt that, Pete!" one viewer remarked on Twitter.
