Gogglebox star Georgia Bell announces change in career away from Channel 4 show

Gogglebox's star Georgia Bell has made an announcement on the next stage of her career away from appearing on the popular Channel 4 Friday night show.

Georgia is usually seen alongside her best mate Abbie Lynn giving their opinions on the latest TV shows and breaking news from their sofa in Durham. But alongside her job on the small screen, she has a day job in a salon, as a hairdresser.

However, she has been on maternity live since the arrival of her first child Hugh, who was born in July 2022. And Georgia asked her best mate a very special question on the programme in an episode aired at the beginning of March.

The Manchester Evening News reports Abbie was lost for words when Georgia handed her a box, saying: "Abs, I've got a surprise for you. You need to open it," she told her, with Abbie later opening a fortune cookie with a note inside.

A note written from baby Hugh said: "Abbie, I know you'll teach me how to be as crazy as you and love me all the way. Will you be my godmother?"

Abbie let out a high-pitched and shocked shriek and cried with happiness on the show, saying: "I’m gonna be Hugh's godmother! What? Oh my God!"

Back to Georgia, and the first-time mum has revealed that she won't return to hairdressing when her maternity leave is over. Alongside a picture of her son, she wrote on her Instagram Story: "To all my wonderful clients, I just want to thank every single of you for all your support over the years of hairdressing.

"For those who may not already know, after much consideration, I have decided I will not be continuing hairdressing once my maternity leave is over! My next step will be something more suitable to family life." She added: "I can't thank you all enough and thank you so much to Daniel John for everything and being so amazing and supportive over the years."
