Gogglebox star Tom Malone Senior has been praised by fans as he shared a snap from a hospital gurney. The Channel 4 regular was masked up in the picture while surrounded by three nurses all dressed in blue scrubs and face masks.
And while the couple's loyal fans may have been initially concerned by the image of Tom, it was nothing for them to worry about as wife Julie explained all in the caption that he was giving blood in support of the NHS.
Snapped wearing a black t-shirt and jeans, Tom could be seen reclined in the chair, clearly in a clinical setting with his yellow-brown platelets visible in a hanging IV bag.
The message read alongside the photo: "@givebloodnhs #plateletsdonation Tom doing his bit for poorly people! Give blood." And fans have been flooding the post with praise for Tom.
@kimnissen9 commented: "Your blood's worth bottlin', Tom!" @wildcelestialsouls wrote: "You malones just keep getting better I didn't think it was possible, lovely family."
@da.wn1312 said: "Well done Tom! I gave my 22nd donation last month! It’s a wonderful thing to be able to do if you can! Fab pic!" @natalie_covell shared: "Well done Tom! It’s people like you that saved my life in November."
@pannakaruna replied: "Well done Tom. Its such a worthy, selfless thing to do and so so vital for people with life-threatening conditions. I doff my cap to your sir!" @vickipeck67 added: "Wish I could, I’ve been a nurse since 1998 but have had lots of transfusions. You making your daughter proud."
But one fan (pjand_dj) was worried, asking: "Nice one. Erm… why does your blood look like cloudy lager?" Another follower (mommalennox ) was on hand to explain and wrote: "It’s the platelets - the machine separates all the blood components and what isn’t platelets is returned to the donor." The person who originally asked the question then replied: "Ah thank you. I was worried!"
The day before Tom and Julie couldn't stop smiling as they got the hand on Gogglebox's BAFTA TV award. The Channel 4 favourite picked up the Best Reality and Constructed Factual gong at the star-studded awards doo earlier this month. Lee Riley, Marcus Luther and Mica Ven, represented the popular programme on the red carpet and on stage.
But just like with the first time they won, the award has been travelling the country to visit the stars of the show. Posing on their now well-recognised sofa, one snap showed Julie and Tom smiling as they looked directly at each other while both having their hands wrapped around the award.
They even shared a photo of two of their beloved Rottweilers posing alongside the gold, shiny award. "Look who came to visit!!!" the couple wrote alongside the string of photos. "So proud to be part of the wonder that is #Gogglebox. The families., the crew ,the whole production team #studiolambert."
