Gogglebox star Ellie Warner has spoken out about a brain injury charity close to her heart after her boyfriend Nat Eddleston was left fighting for his life when he was hit by a car earlier this year.
The 31-year-old Gogglebox fan favourite was absent from the Channel 4 show following the incident and received help and support from brain injury charity Headway, which helps survivors and their families.
The Channel 4 star is now spearheading a campaign to help those suffering brain injuries and support the charity.
Ellie’s partner suffered a broken neck and back, two collapsed lungs, and needed life support following the horror crash on March 18.
She has subsequently decided to reach out for donations to brain injury charity Headway, sharing a post to Facebook to urge friends and family to contribute.
She wrote: “For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to Headway - the brain injury association.
“I've chosen this charity because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope that you'll consider contributing as a way of celebrating with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal.
“Headway's mission is to promote the understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide vital information, support and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers. Facebook takes care of the donation processing with no fees.”
A source added to MailOnline : “Nat and Ellie have been to hell and back but Ellie is determined to try and now turn the nightmare into a positive by trying to help others going through the same issues.
“She hopes people will join the crusade so they can raise lots of money for an amazing cause. Nat has received great care and Ellie is determined to make sure help is there when others need it like her and Nat did.”
Ellie, who appears on the Channel 4 show alongside sister Izzi, was absent from the show and social media following her boyfriend's tragic accident earlier this year.
The Leeds-based star has appeared on the award-winning production alongside her sister Izzi since they joined the Gogglebox family in 2015.
The popular sisters have been fan favourites with Channel 4 viewers since they first appeared on Gogglebox, winning viewers over with their close bond and witty remarks.
Many of their early Gogglebox scenes were filmed at their Yorkshire family home, where eldest sister Ellie still lived at the time.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Izzi took a brief break from the show in 2020, with Ellie's boyfriend Nat stepping in to cover the star.
