Gogglebox: 'Nutty' and 'adored' Giles and Mary tease a big change

Gogglebox's 'nutty' and 'adored' Giles and Mary have teased that they could soon move away from their 'Grottage'. The fan-favourites have lived in Wiltshire for 30 years, but in their new autobiography, released today (April 27), Mary explains why she wants to move.

Viewers love seeing their zany West Country home, filled with flamboyant wallpaper and intriguing books such as ones on pond life, but the couple says country life isn't what they crave anymore, reports Hello.

They have grown bored of their 'exile', and the lack of public transport and now want to head to the capital. Mary said in her new book: "As a woman who can’t drive, I have been exiled these past three decades to a village without a bus service. It means that, over the years, I’ve missed at least 600 London parties, gallery openings and book launches, to say nothing of memorial services and lectures and art exhibitions.

"I’m certain that a London dwelling would be the best choice for the final decade of life. It’s too much of a nuisance to visit someone who lives in the country, no matter how much you love them. Our friends and family are always in London and would be 20 times more likely to come and see us there."

If they do decide to relocate, it wouldn't be their first time living in the capital. They first met at the age of 21 and were living in Chelsea at the time before relocating to Wiltshire to start having kids.

Speaking about leaving London, Mary said: "The decision made financial sense. For the same price as a basement in the outskirts of London, we could have a full cottage with an acre of garden in a beauty spot."

Fans regularly take to social media to praise the Channel 4 stars. One person wrote: "Talk about Nutty and Nutty on my Twitter again and see what happens! I bloody love Giles and Mary. They crack me up."

Another wrote: "I got a book on pond life. I'm not surprised God i love giles and Mary."
