A fan favourite on Gogglebox Ireland, Angela De La Mere, has passed away.

Angela, who was an original cast member and endeared herself to viewers for years with her adorable friendship with Eileen, died peacefully last week at the St Francis Hospice in Raheny.

Kite Entertainment, the production company behind Gogglebox Ireland, announced the sad news on social media over the weekend.

A spokesperson for the entertainment firm tweeted: "Everyone at Kite and all who’ve worked on Gogglebox Ireland are sadden by the news that original cast member Angela De La Mere has passed away. Sending all our love to her family and her Goggle cohort Eileen. RIP Angela."

Castleknock native Angela quickly became one of the most popular stars of Gogglebox Ireland after it first hit our screens, and viewers loved the Michael D. Higgins tea cosy often seen on screen while the pair discussed the latest goings-on in television.
