Gogglebox has been hit with a further set of Ofcom complaints after showing a 'shocking' X-rated clip between a woman and a duck from the new Apple TV series Roar. The scene caused uproar among many of the Channel 4 show's viewers when it was shown last month and left the nation's favourite armchair critics gobsmacked.
During the episode, the Goggleboxers sat down to watch 'The Woman Who Was Fed By A Duck' taken from the series based on a book of short stories by Cecelia Ahern. The episode starred actress Merritt Wever, playing a woman named Elisa who starts a romantic relationship with a duck. A later clip showed the woman and the duck sharing an intimate sexual moment.
At the time, the Channel 4 programme received a huge backlash with viewers flooding Twitter saying the clips were "disturbing" and left them "traumatised" and in "shock". In the weekend following the broadcast, Ofcom received a total of 149 complaints but since then an additional 68 complaints have been sent to the broadcasting watchdog bringing the total amount to 217.
The Gogglebox cast members were left speechless watching the scenes. Show favourites Jenny tried to contain her laughter while Lee looked horrified before covering his face with his hand and couple Marcus and Mica had similar reactions with Marcus laughing out loud and Mica trying not to look before turning away. Scottish newcomer Joe was left asking: "What the **** is going on?".
Meanwhile, husband and wife Giles and Mary questioned how the scene worked, with Giles saying: "The duck can't physically…" before Mary chipped in: "Well he can Nutty, he can use his beak". Mary later branded it "the worst thing" she'd ever seen.
Gogglebox continues each Friday on Channel 4 and All 4 from 9pm.
