S4C has announced the cast for the new Welsh language Gogglebox series. The programme, which is called Gogglebocs Cymru, is voiced by comedian Tudur Owen and starts on the channel on Wednesday, November 2 at 9pm.
The new series will feature family and friends in homes across Brynamman, Cardiff, Carmarthen, Caernarfon, Crymych, Denbigh, Llanelli, Maerdy, Bridgend, Pwllheli, Talsarnau, Tregarth and Wrexham. Gogglebocs Cymru is part of S4C's birthday celebrations, marking 40 years of broadcasting.
The new show is based on the main Channel 4 Gogglebox series which is now in its 20th series and sees members of the public become armchair critics as they comment on the television shows and films they are watching. S4C's new addition will give a golden opportunity to watch a brand new version with a Welsh twist and all-Welsh cast.

S4C's Chief Content Officer, Llinos Griffin-Williams, said: "I'm so excited that this amazingly successful series is coming to S4C. It's a great pleasure to have Gogglebocs Cymru as part of S4C's 40th celebrations. It's a fantastic TV format, which has captured the nation's imagination.
"What better than a programme that brings us Welsh talent at grassroots level? Gogglebocs Cymru will extend a warm welcome into households around the country and beyond. We will meet several characters who reflect contemporary Wales in all its glory, new faces that give our diverse communities a voice." Here's everything you need to know about the new series.
When does Gogglebocs Cymru start?
Gogglebocs Cymru will make its debut on S4C, S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer on Wednesday, 2 November. Viewers can tune in from 9pm.
Who narrates Gogglebocs Cymru?
The new series will be hosted by comedian Tudur Owen. Of his new role, Owen said: "I'm an avid TV watcher and have enjoyed Gogglebox for years but I rarely watch live television. Everyone's viewing habits have changed now haven't they. Every time I turn on the TV, I'm amazed at the choice. Sometimes, I'll end up just making a cuppa because I don't know where to start."
Tudur added: "I'll often use Gogglebox as an indicator of what to watch. I've watched a lot of good series because of it - and I hope that putting this spotlight on Welsh programmes will help them too."
"There's so much great stuff being produced in Wales, this will be a brilliant way of drawing attention to shows people might not notice otherwise," Tudur continued, before stressing how he is keen to highlight how he only plays a small part in the series - much like Craig Cash in the original. Who is in the Gogglebocs Cymru cast?
Viewers will be introduced to many friends and families over the series, including Huw from Brynamman, who appears on the show with his two brothers, Mike and Stephen.
He said: "I will be appearing with my brothers Mike and Stephen. We’re all quite confident and outgoing, but Mike the eldest is the most confident, while I’m the typical middle child, apparently.
"Most families stopped the routine Zoom meetings after lockdown ended – but we’ve carried on. There’s always something to talk about, mainly football, rugby or golf. We’ve been fans of Gogglebox since the beginning, and quite often it’s something we’ll chat about on our family calls."
While Kelly from Maerdy, who will be joined by friends Bethany and Sammy, Kelly said: "We can’t wait for Gogglebocs Cymru. Bethany, Sammy and I can’t believe we’ve got the job of getting paid to sit together and watch TV.
"We’re all besties, and met through choir practice (Côr Aelwyd Cwm Rhondda). Filming will happen at Bethany’s house, so she’s in charge of snacks. We’re planning on being nice and comfortable – jeans and hoody, but as Christmas comes closer we’ll get the Christmas jumpers out."
