The Boston Celtics have seen some loss in their coaching ranks this season, with former lead assistant coach Charles Lee taking the head coaching job with the Charlotte Hornets for next season. With him will go Maine Celtics head coach Blaine Mueller and Boston assistant Jermaine Bucknor.
To ameliorate this concern, Boston’s front office has mostly been promoting from within. This sees Sam Cassell taking the lead assistant role held by Lee on, and D.J. MacLeay, Tony Dobbins, and Matt Reynolds all bumping up a spot in the bench hierarchy as well. But according to the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, a pair of new faces will also be joining Boston’s bench.
Those two new additions would be God Shammgod Jr. and Da’Sean Butler, with the former a player for Mazzulla at Fairmont State who later became a coach with him, and the latter played with Mazzulla at West Virginia.
