The Melbourne Derby descended into chaos after a City goalkeeper Thomas Glover was struck by a BIN following a pitch invasion by a group of supporters.
Fans of both city and rivals Melbourne Victory had planned to stage a protest in the 20th minutes ahead of the game, where a number of fans would walk out of the game to protest the A-League's decision to move to take the next three Grand Final showpieces to Sydney. However, things quickly went wrong when a number of supporters ended up on the field and stopping the action on the park.
A section of the support behind Glover's goal streamed onto the field and hopped over advertising boards, before the goalkeeper was struck in the head by a metal bin by one pitch invader, and was left with a nasty cut on his face as his teammates rushed to his aid. The referee quickly suspended the games and urged both sets of players and management to leave the field.
