'Go to' Liverpool nightclub where clubbers 'danced the night away'

A former Liverpool nightclub loved by 80s stars was a "go to' for many clubbers who "danced the night away there."

The Liverpool ECHO recently took a look back Cagneys club, which opened up on Fraser Street, just off London Road in Liverpool City Centre back in 1979. Originally opened in the 1960s, the premises was previously known as the Compton Club, the Peppermint Lounge, Dinos and Gulliver.

But by the 1980s, Cagney's had become a place to be seen for New Romantics. In its heyday, clubbers would travel from across Merseyside and beyond to attend its Roxy/Bowie night, as well as be amongst people who had a similar taste in music and fashion.
