A white fluffy creature is ready to take you on an adventure with him and his friends during "Poorboylife", which is running at RCB Galleria 1, 2nd floor of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24, until Jan 31.
Presented by Trendy Gallery, the exhibition conveys the life of graphic designer-turned-street artist Kasemwit "Ton" Chaweewat through his paintings and sculptures of beloved character Poorboy, a white woolly monkey that he created to tactfully touch on the significance of nature and environment.
The artist tells the story of Poorboy from a forest who comes to live in a big city he finds both fun and alien to him. A part of the creature is fascinated by the lights while another part of him probably misses his homeland. His situation may resonate with many people to different degrees.
A troupe of Poorboy's friends include a long-eared rabbit with a proclivity for provocative poses, a big bush with a warm personality, a masked cat and an adorable tree that narrowly escapes being felled. They will take viewers through every memorable event in the artist's life. His hybrid style always has a signature, street-art edge which in these works is achieved through the use of skateboards. He's reputed for his ability to blend his artistic skills with personal preferences.
