‘Go home’: New York bartender finishes serving a table of six, and their parting words leave her stunned

When you’re wrapping up your shift, you expect the only person telling you to “go home” to be your manager. However, one New York bartender, Jenna, recently shared on TikTok how a group of six women not only refused to leave her restaurant after closing but tried to convince her lock up and let them continue to hang out on the patio.

According to her video, the whole mess started when the group arrived at the restaurant around 9:00 PM. When Jenna pointed out that the restaurant would close in an hour, they insisted they just wanted a quick round of drinks and appetizers. By 9:45 PM, Jenna had a waitress check for last orders and fulfilled another round of drinks before closing the tab. Thankfully, they did close their tab promptly instead of causing trouble there. However, at 10:30, they still showed no signs of leaving.

The Mary Sue reported that this is when Jenna realized she had to encourage their exit. She sent the rest of the staff home and asked the busboy to start clearing the table. As soon as the busboy walked over, the group began “picking at their food again, obviously trying to signal they’re not done yet.” The restaurant was closed, and according to Jenna, they had “literally, like, one piece of calamari left on your plate.”

It takes a staggering amount of entitlement to ignore such obvious hints

At 11:00 PM, a full hour after closing, the group finally seemed to notice the entire restaurant was dark and empty except for Jenna. One of the women asked, “Are you guys trying to leave?” Jenna responded politely, clarifying that the restaurant was indeed closed and that she needed to start locking up.

That’s when the conversation took a truly bizarre turn. Instead of apologizing and leaving, the woman offered a bizarre solution: “She was like… ‘You know what? It’s fine. Why don’t you guys just go home? This part doesn’t lock up anyway, right? Like, we’re just gonna hang out here. If you wanna take all the glasses inside, that’s fine.’”

The conversation spiraled from that point. The ladies insisted on staying, daring Jenna to call the cops. Even after they got up, they lingered in the parking lot, likely hoping to sneak back in after Jenna left. Jenna simply made it clear she wasn’t going to let that happen. It is heartbreaking that they chose to be entitled rather than being kind

This whole saga brings up an important question about dining etiquette. Sticking around well past closing is extremely rude. Something that the comments all agreed on. When a server gives you the signal, it’s time to go; refusing can expose you to serious legal issues.
