Police say they are aware of and are now investigating an image appearing to show Manchester City striker Erling Haaland using his mobile phone whilst driving.
The Sun today published a picture purportedly showing the 22-year-old Blues hotshot with his smartphone in his hand whilst behind the wheel of his £300,000 Rolls-Royce.
The image said to have been snapped in New Islington, a short distance from the Etihad Stadium and Manchester city centre, seems to show Haaland with the phone in his left hand and his right hand on the steering wheel.
Police have confirmed they are looking into the matter. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: "I can confirm GMP is aware of this image and is investigating." Manchester City declined to comment.
It’s illegal to hold and use a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send or receive data, while driving or riding a motorcycle. If the driver passed their test in the last two years, they can lose their licence.
The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund has been a revelation in the Premier League scoring 42 goals in 37 games in all competitions so far this season.
According to the newspaper, the incident occurred on Wednesday, March 15, the day after he plundered five goals in City's 7-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
