Good Morning Britain viewers were left slightly uncomfortable by the ITV programme on Monday morning as The Masked Singer’s Daisy May Cooper appeared on the programme.
This Country star Daisy was in the ITV studio after she was unmasked as Otter on Saturday evening on the celebrity singing competition.
The 36-year-old comedian was immediately gushing over Ben Shephard in the studio, who she dedicated her autobiography to but had never met.
She explained to co-host Susanna Reid that her infatuation started when she saw him on TV when she was younger, adding: “I've just never looked back since.”
Turning to Ben, she said: “You are the most beautiful man in the world. It’s like you've been chiselled from marble.”
The Tipping Point host looked slightly flummoxed in response, as she added: “Do you think so? That’s really lovely.”
Susanna jokingly asked Daisy: “Have you seen his abs? He was once the cover boy on Men’s Health. Have you never seen this?”
Later in the interview, Ben said he had been catching up on the first series of Am I Being Unreasonable? on the BBC.
Yet as Ben gushed about the show, which Daisy co-wrote and starred in, and asked if there would be a second season, Daisy said: “I’m sorry I just got lost in your eyes.”
Laughing, Ben said to Susanna: “You do the talking, I'll just sit here.”
While the ITV studio was light-hearted at Daisy’s crush, viewers at home were left ‘cringing’ at the interview.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “How is this Daisy May Cooper/Ben Sheppard thing being allowed to happen? It's incredibly cringeworthy.”
“Ben's wife will be fuming,” a second joked as a third added: “You have just done a bit about women’s rights etc and rightly so then you bring a woman on to drool over Ben.”
Another wrote: “This is a f***ing car crash,” as one said: “If a man behaved liked this woman we would not here the f***ing end of it.”
It was a double elimination on The Masked Singer over the weekend as Daisy was unveiled alongside Claire Richards as Knitting.
An out of breath Daisy had the judges gobsmacked as she said: “I'm exhausted. Why couldn't I have been a sloth or something? It's so much jumping around.”
The judging panel of Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan had managed to guess both of the unmasked stars.
Mo guessed that Daisy was behind Otter's mask earlier in the show, while the rest of the panel suggested names such as Kim Woodburn and Mel Giedroyc.
After being unmasked, the This Country star explained that she did it for her daughter Pip, but also joked she ‘needed the cash’.
