Ed Miliband 's appearance on Good Morning Britain earlier today certainly got viewers talking.
The former leader of the Labour Party appeared on the ITV show to discuss the ongoing energy bills hike, and was quizzed about if it is ever okay for MPs to go on holiday during a national crisis - following Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Leader of the Opposition Sir Kier Starmer's recent breaks.
During his chat with presenters Robert Rinder and Charlotte Hawkins, Miliband - who led the Labour Party from 2010 until 2015 - spoke candidly about the struggles facing millions of Britons as energy bills are set to soar in the coming months.
Experts predict a jump in its energy price caps will see an average dual-fuel standard tariff energy bill jump from already hefty £1,971 a year to £3,582 - an 82% leap.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Miliband stressed how the price hikes will not just impact those on benefits or low income, but also people earning above-average incomes, and called on the government to stand up for the British people and tax oil and gas companies.
"The money we're paying on our bills is not disappearing into thin air," Miliband declared on the ITV show. "It's going to the oil and gas companies, and the big question in politics today is: 'Are you going to tax those giants and use that money to help families who are struggling?'"
Presenter Charlotte also quizzed Miliband about his party's leader's recent holiday, asking: "Is it ever okay for MPs to take a holiday in a time of crisis when people are looking for answers and looking for solutions?"
"Look, of course just like families across the country, MPs can take holidays," Miliband began in his reply. "The question is, not whether you take holidays, whether you have answers to the challenges that the country is facing."
He continued: "I heard Kier Starmer on your show yesterday - what he's done alongside me and Rachel Reeves, is we have come up with a plan. I think that's what the public want - they want MPs to simply cancel their holidays, they want us to answer the questions about the crisis their facing.
"#GMB Well done @Ed_Miliband concise articulate and answered the questions, forgot what that was like," one Good Morning Britain viewer wrote on Twitter after Miliband's interview aired on Tuesday.
"Ed Milliband on #GMB answering all the questions he’s asked. Mad fool, it’ll never catch on. Tories No plan, get a free ride, Labour - plan. getting grilled on costing," another agreed when praising Miliband's honesty on social media.
A third wrote: "Im with Ed Milliband here. We are a family of 2 working parents and 2 children and just about get by every month, on no benefits. It's not just people on benefits that are struggling. #gmb."
"Best prime minister we never had," another quipped, with an additional viewer adding: "For once I'd actually agree with Ed Miliband, if there was a plan and a answer in place before they went on holiday it wouldn't be an issue!"
