GMB's Susanna Reid under fire for dig at Adele over Las Vegas concert cancellations

Susanna Reid caused controversy on Monday's Good Morning Britain as she aimed a dig in Adele's direction in the aftermath of the singer cancelling her shows in Las Vegas.

After loads of her fans had travelled to Sin City for her much publicised gigs at Caesar's Palace, Adele posted a tearful video on her social media, explaining that the shows 'weren't ready' and were having to be rescheduled.

The last minute cancellation of the shows sparked anger and upset, especially for those who'd forked out thousands on flights and hotels to be there for opening night.

Over the weekend, videos were posted online of Skyfall singer Adele even FaceTiming heartbroken fans to apologise.

And GMB host Susanna took a swipe at Adele over the Vegas cancellation during a live interview with Spandau Ballet legend Tony Hadley on the ITV breakfast show.

After he told Susanna and co-hot Ed Balls he couldn't wait to get back on stage after a frustrating few years due to the coronavirus pandemic, Susanna remarked: "Tony, you seem to be doing the opposite to what Adele is doing.

"'Cos you cancelled and cancelled during the pandemic and now you're finally out there, whereas, the pandemic is over and Adele says Covid means she can't go."

Susanna's remark promptly landed her in hot water with some viewers at home, with one tweeting: "Oh dear @susannareid100 just poo pooed @adele whilst talking to Tony Hadley on @gmb. "now the pandemic is over and @Adele is cancelling her concert" and Hadley isn't cancelling his. That's so not nice...."

Equally unimpressed, another posted: "We are NOT ‘POST-pandemic’. 100s dying DAILY, skyrocketing case numbers, new even more dangerous #Covid19 variants in the offing.

"Even a suggestion @Adele ‘got stage fright’. NO! Touring in an ongoing pandemic is patently wrong."

A third viewer commented: " @susannareid100 says pandemic is over !!! Do you know something that we don’t ?!!!!!!"

After chuckling at Susanna's Adele comparison, Tony told her: "I have to say, cancelling is something that is not in my sort of repertoire.

"I love touring. I mean, I think it's really terrible if you do have stage fright. I get nervous before I go on stage, but once I'm on stage I'm i my element.

"I love singing and I love performing."
