GMB's Richard Arnold's cheeky swipe at Love Island as he says fans 'struggling to care'

Good Morning Britain's entertainment editor Richard Arnold couldn't resist adding a bit of snark to his Love Island segment today.

The 52-year-old presenter gave viewers the lowdown what happened during last night's episode.

He addressed Andrew and Luca's awkward row, in which the former said he "didn't care" that Tasha was speaking to Jacques.

Sharing clips of various Islanders saying they "didn't care", Richard quipped: "And if some of you are finding it, well, difficult to care at all about Love Island this year..."

As hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley laughed, he continued: "Viewers, of course, over the years have been cringing when the contestants start the old tonsil tennis hockey, as it was known when I was a kid..."

It comes after Susanna yesterday voiced her frustration at bosses over their obsession with centring the show around Michael Owen's daughter Gemma.

The GMB presenter and avid Love Island fan, 51, questioned whether it was " Gemma Owen Island" as so many of the storylines were revolving around her.

Addressing rumours that another of Gemma's exes is due to arrive in the Mallorcan villa, following the entrance of Jacques O'Neill, Richard said: "It was reported over the weekend that another one of Gemma's exes, Wrexham footballer Cameron Green, is waiting to appear.

"A source said he really liked him and he even appeared in a social media post shared by Michael. But the question on everyone's lips is, 'When will the Islanders find out that Michael Owen is actually her dad?! When will Jacques let it slip? The action continues tonight."

But Susanna asked pointedly: "Is it Love Island or Gemma Owen Island?"

"I think it's Gemma Owen Island," Richard replied.

"Poor Gemma, she's at the heart of every single story so far," Susanna said.
