Good Morning Britain’s weather forecaster Laura Tobin overslept on Friday morning and missed the beginning of the programme after a boozy night with ITV colleagues last night.
The meteorologist was due to present her weather slot alongside ITV co-hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard, but saw Charlotte Hawkins step-in when she forgot to set an alarm.
ITV’s Ben and Kate explained to baffled viewers that Laura was at the ultimate news quiz with the Good Morning Britain team the previous night, alongside the likes of This Morning ’s Alison Hammond and Loose Women’s Charlene White, and had overslept as a result.
Ben said: “She’s the last to wake-up this morning, she’s overslept,’ as Kate replied: “Nobody could raise her!”
Charlotte said: “I was going to cover her back and I thought no one would notice, I’ll just seamlessly carry on and fill in until she gets here.”
Kate replied: “That’s because you’re a lovely person, Charlotte. Ben and I want to revel.
“I think if we all put £1 on her voice being husky - we won’t be disappointed.”
Laura eventually made it to the studio just before 7am a little worse for wear and made a point of saying she left the party earlier than her colleagues, but that Good Morning Britain’s producer rang her with a wake up call.
“I'm delivering sunshine, so that's the forecast, but I'm an award-winning forecaster this morning,” she said holding up a trophy.
Moments before Laura gave viewers the weather forecast across the UK for today, she left ITV viewers in hysterics as she showed the post-party snacks on her desk.
Laura held up a plate of chicken nuggets and ketchup to the camera and then tried to give a glimpse inside her Good Morning Britain mug, which contained Coca-Cola, but ended up accidentally pouring the drink over her desk as she tried to show it to viewers.
ITV presenter Ben Shephard replied: "Should we actually let Laura on live television? Has anybody cleared this?"
Co-host Kate Garraway replied joking: "Has anybody breathalysed her?"
The studio burst into giggles at the gaffe as Laura insisted she was "fine" with a cheeky grin.
Good Morning Britain fans were in stitches at the exchange and took to Twitter to joke about the spillage, with one writing: “I love how human Laura Tobin is.”
A fellow fan tweeted: “Pouring coke over the laptop,” alongside a crying laughing emoji, while another wrote: “Did Laura just pour coke over her laptop,” with another string of emojis.
