A road safety business in Gloucestershire has installed its technology across a commercial vehicle hire firm’s entire fleet.
Cirencester-based Sentinel Systems, which manufactures and installs equipment such as cameras and reversing alert systems, has successfully kitted out more than 750 vehicles for Wolverhampton-based N D Brown.
Sentinel, which relocated to a larger headquarters last year to support expansion plans, said it had successfully rolled-out its gear across N D Brown’s range of hot boxes and tipper trucks at a rate of 150 vehicles a year, following an initial trial six years ago.
The company said its equipment, including side vision cameras with cycle detection systems, had helped N D Brown to become the first first commercial vehicle hire firm in the UK to be accredited with the FORS Silver Standard safety accreditation.
ND Brown’s operations director Harry Brown said: “Having our fleet accredited with FORS is great for us, in fact, nearly all of our customers insist on it so it’s useful we were so ahead of the game with fitting Sentinel’s equipment to all new vehicles. They’ve also advised us on many compliance issues when we’ve had queries from customers."
Formed in 1986 as Safety Shop Ltd, before changing its name in 2008, Sentinel supplies products across the UK as well as overseas via international distributors in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa.
The company said its new facilities in Cirencester's Querns Business Park would increase its testing capacity for its vehicle radar systems and help it to explore new applications for products.
With the announcement of the new office Sentinel said it would be looking to recruit three to four new members of staff as it planned to grow its sales and marketing team.
