A marketing agency in Gloucestershire has acquired a local competitor as part of expansion plans. Mighty has bought fellow Cheltenham company Third Floor Design for an undisclosed sum.
Third Floor Design, which has studios on Lansdown Place Lane and in London, develops, builds, and manages brands for companies across a variety of sectors.
Established in 2006, it counts some of the county’s most prominent businesses among its clients, including global fashion label Superdry and Dunkertons Cider.
As part of the deal both companies will retain their own name, brand identity and client base but will draw upon each other’s specialisms and experience.
Third Floor Design’s staff will continue with the business, including long-serving creative director Gareth Brough, while the agency’s founder James Cowdale will leave with immediate effect to concentrate on his clothing venture &SONS.
Mr Brough said: “This is an exciting new chapter for the Third Floor team. More and more in recent times, we had talked about how we can better support our clients.
“Now with access to Mighty’s deep expertise in brand strategy, communications and digital, there will be multiple opportunities to collaborate for the good of Third Floor’s customer base.”
Mighty, formerly known as Alias and based in the Hub8 coworking space in Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter, said its purchase of Third Floor Design was the first of a number of planned investments. The firm said it was looking to grow through the addition of specialist businesses and experts.
Managing partner James Ashe said: “It’s fantastic to finally be able to officially welcome Gareth and the rest of his team to Mighty. It’s no secret that we have been looking for an agency to buy for quite some time as part of our growth plans.
“While we had been speaking to several agencies, both locally and further afield, the fit wasn’t right in each instance. When we started the conversations with Third Floor Design, there was a clear synergy around the approach, skills, and ethos of both teams.”
Mr Ashe added Mighty had “exciting growth plans for both teams".
