Japan's Nikkei share average fell for a third consecutive session on Monday, weighed down by declines in chip-related stocks following a weaker Wall Street session, while energy shares advanced on higher oil prices, Reuters reported.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 was down 0.43% at 62,425.47 in morning trade, putting it on track for its lowest close since July 30. The broader Topix index, however, rose 0.48% to 3,984.74.
