Glimpse into the world of remote inhabitants

The lives of tribal people around the world are portrayed during "People And Their World", which is running at RCB Photographers' Gallery 1-2 of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24, until June 30.

This is a photography exhibition of exotic culture by award-winning photographer and adventurer Jatenipat Ketpradit, aka JKBoy, who has brought his beloved camera to venture into challenging terrain, facing hardships to capture pictures of indigenous people there.

The collection depicts the Burgedchin, or Eagle Hunters, a group of hunters living in the Altai Mountains who inherited the use of golden eagles to hunt prey for more than 250 years; and the Tsaatan, one of the last remaining groups of nomadic reindeer herders living on the Mongolia-Russia border.

Also presented are photos of the Mentawai people living on the remote island of Siberut in Indonesia, who specialise in decorative tattoos and believe in animism; and the indigenous people living in the mountains and forests of the Savanna, called the Cradle of Humankind, in South Africa.

To capture these photographs, JKBoy contacted and lived with people from different tribes, overcoming difficult areas, harsh weather, and cultural and language differences to present the lives and spirit of each tribe realistically.

This series of photographs won second place in the International Portrait photographer of the year 2021 in the UK which propelled him to be recognised internationally.

His works have also been published in local and international magazines such as Lonely Planet, Digital SLR Photography and National Geographic (Espana).
