Glider pilot taken to hospital by air ambulance after crash landing in Scots field

A pilot has been taken to hospital after a glider crashed into a field in Kinross. Emergency services raced to the scene at Scotlandwell, near the Scottish Gliding Centre at 5pm.

The tail of the aircraft reportedly snapped in half in the crash landing, as well as the left wing, eye witnesses say. An Air ambulance attended the scene and has taken the 70-year-old male pilot to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Police Scotland say enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5pm on Friday, 8 July, 2022 police were called to a report of a glider having crashed in a field in Scotlandwell, Kinross.

“Emergency services attended and the 70 year-old male pilot was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as a precaution. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
