With the NFL action at a pause following Super Bowl 58 and the offseason upon us, it’s the perfect time to start saving special dates on the calendar for staple events in South Florida.
The Miami Jewish Health Golf Classic will take place on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach. Miami Jewish Health has an 84-year history of providing life-enhancing programs, services, and quality care to all seniors regardless of their ability to pay.
This year’s Classic will be hosted by NCAA/NBA Champion, three-time All-Star, and NBA legend Glen Rice.
Rice was one of the NBA’s sharpest shooters over his career and a Miami Heat legend. Last year’s Classic was Rice’s first event with the organization.
“It’s an honor and privilege to be hosting the 2024 Miami Jewish Health Classic. I was so impressed with their tournament last year! Once I learned about their mission, I was eager to learn more. After touring their campus and meeting with their team and caregivers, I immediately wanted to get involved and help advocate for the important work they do,” Rice said.
After a three-year hiatus because of the pandemic, last year’s Classic was a massive success. The golf tournament not only raised almost $300,000, but it also had the highest number of participants (136 golfers, with 81 of them as first-time participants).
Among last year’s golfers were Miami Hurricanes and Dolphins legend Randal “Thrill” Hill, who teed off along a trio of former Miami defensive backs, Tim McKyer, Darrell Malone and Kerry Glenn. Joining the former Dolphins was former Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers fullback Brian O’Neal.
Hill, currently a federal agent and 2016 US House of Representatives candidate, said, “The Miami Jewish Health Classic is one of the 305’s most fun and exciting events. Don’t miss it next year!”
Mirroring efforts from last year’s event, Miami Jewish Health Foundation executive director Jenny A. Ray will lead the charge again for this highly anticipated event.
“Our success is made possible because of the extraordinary generosity and loyalty of our donors and supporters,” Ray said following the 2023 tournament.
In addition to Ray, the Miami Jewish Health Foundation team that helps organize the event includes chief development officer/president and CEO Alison Grewe, director of donor relations Aimee Siegel-Harris and concierge coordinator Leslee Geller.
