Fuming revellers at Glastonbury Festival were caught short when some bars abruptly switched to cash-only payments on Friday night.
Many stopped taking cards during one of the busiest times of the evening, with one of the bars in the hospitality area starting to turn away punters hoping to pay with card at 8pm.
But they were not the only venue to make the switch, Bristol Live reports.
Festivalgoers at the Pyramid Stage also found themselves in a pickle during Sam Fender's 8.15pm set, when bars there went cash-only.
They told media this was because the WiFi had "gone down", however food vans nearby were still operating as normal.
It wasn't long before most alcohol-serving outlets in the vicinity put up cardboard signs saying "CASH ONLY" - and the issue was not confined to that part of the site.
At Silver Hayes, bars were having the same problem.
One reveller, who tried to buy a drink near the Sonic stage, said: "It was chaos at some of the bars.
"People were getting to the front of the queues and placing orders only to be told that they weren't taking cards.
"A lot of the bars are nowhere near cashpoints so we were faced with having to walk 15 minutes just to get cash out and buy a drink, by which time we were back in a 15-minute queue.
"I don't understand why the bars won't take cards when nearly every other food place here will let you use them."
Another festivalgoer explained: "I was in the Silver Hayes area of the festival looking for a drink, to which I was told that all bars in the area were cash only due to the card machines not working.
"Apparently this was an issue to do with the WiFi, which had been an issue in the days prior.
"This wouldn’t normally be a major issue, however, the nearest ATMs were closed, meaning the closest cash point was on the other side of the Pyramid stage.
"Not ideal when the act I wanted was due to start in 10 minutes. I was fuming."
Most punters only became aware of the change when they reached the top of the queue and had to go away empty-handed.
Almost all ATMs on the Glastonbury site charge a fee for withdrawals and revellers are understandably reluctant to carry large amounts of money on their person, or leave it in an insecure tent.
