Glastonbury Festival: Is there an age limit on who can buy tickets and can children attend?

Glastonbury Festival has returned after a two year hiatus, with people all over the world already planning ahead for next year's event. Typically, the outdoor music festival boasts of a whopping 200,000 attendees every year, consisting of people from all generations.

But is there an age limit and can children attend? According to the official Glastonbury Festival website, everyone aged 13 or over on Wednesday 22nd June 2022 (when the gates to this year's event open) who plans to come to the festival, must have booked a ticket to attend, while children aged 12 and under do not require tickets and do not need to register, but must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

Everyone, aged 13 or over, who wishes to attend the festival must be registered before they can pay a deposit. Glastonbury registration is now supported on all major mobile operating systems.

The website also states: "If your child has or will turn 13 since you booked tickets for the 2020 Festival, and before the gates open for the 2022 Festival, please submit their registration at www.glastonburyregistration.co.uk and once you have their registration number, please contact us using the ‘Any Other Enquiries’ option on the Festival Contact form as soon as possible ahead of December 31, 2021, for information on how to book an additional ticket.

"Children aged 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. It’s worth bringing some ID if they look older than 12."

Attendees can collect a child wristband for children attending with them from the KidzField or the various Information Points once inside the festival site.

Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (who must be aged 18 or over and who would usually be the parent, carer or legal guardian). When booking a ticket for a child aged 13, 14 or 15, it is important to select the ‘CHILD’ ticket option, and confirm that their parent, carer or legal guardian has consented for their data to be processed.

When booking tickets for children aged 13, 14 or 15, and/or bringing children aged 12 or under along to the festival, visitors will be required to confirm they are aged 18 or over and accept full responsibility for all under 16s in their group. Those who are aged 16 or 17 are allowed to attend the festival unaccompanied, but it is strongly advised that this decision is made with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
