Glasgow weather warning issued by Met Office and BBC as thunderstorms set to batter city

Glasgow is expected to be hit with thunderstorms on Wednesday morning, the Met Office warns.

While temperatures are proving to be above average, heavy rain and showers has descended over the city in the recent days and the weather forecasters warn it is set to continue with thunder and lightning.

According to the Met Office, Glasgow is set to remain dry but cloudy for today, with temperatures reaching 14C until tonight. Heavy rain is set to fall from 11pm and carry on until Wednesday morning as BBC Weather reports that thunder lightning expected to hit from 9am until 12am and winds will turn blustery from 12pm.

While wind speeds are set to sit at around 29 and 30 miles per hour through the day, the wind and thunder will ease with the rain clearing up by 12pm and only showers expected at around 3pm before the sun will push through the clouds at 4pm.

The Met Office forecasts for Wednesday: "A mixture of sunny intervals and blustery, possibly thundery showers in the morning, Then a bright mainly dry afternoon with some good sunny spells before showers return in the evening. Maximum temperature 16C."

As for the next few days ahead, the weather forecasters add: "Remaining changeable later in week with some sunshine, but occasional rain or showers. Chance of gales on Friday, Temperatures well above average."
