Glasgow University has been named the second best university in Scotland in a league table based solely on student reviews.
The StudentCrowd Awards revealed the top 20 best universities in the UK for 2023 based on 24,041 student reviews submitted between June 2021 and May 2023.
As well as being named the second best Scottish university, Glasgow University was also named the eighth best institution in the UK. The top spot was taken by University of Greenwich, followed by the University of Sheffield at number two and the University of St Andrews at number three.
StudentCrowd's description of the university reads: "Residing in the stunning Western Lowlands of Scotland is the University of Glasgow, situated in the city centre of Glasgow. With over 42,000 students currently in attendance, 17,000 of which are international students, the University of Glasgow is a beacon of culture and diversity.
"The university is split into three main sites: Gilmore Campus, Garscube Campus and Dumfries campus. It boasts state-of-the-art facilities such as the Advanced Research Centre (ARC) which is the hub of inquiry and innovation at the University of Glasgow, with £116.5 million invested in the remodel.

Student reviews applauded the university's campus, library, and the extra curricular activities available.
One review said: "Beautiful University with a wonderful campus. Large library to help us with studies and plenty of other resources available at their disposal. There are plenty of clubs and societies as well which help in cultivating extra curricular activities. Very liberating feeling to study at this university and there are plenty of pathways in case we get stuck midway at any point in any degree."
