“Please exercise caution during your journey. We are in the process of attending those sites affected and restoring them to operational condition.”
The faults are spread across the city with busy junctions affected including: St George's Cross, J2A of the M74 at Cambuslang, Paisley Road West / Crookston Road and Dumbarton Road.
It appears the problem has reached wider areas including Cumbernauld, with one concerned motorist tweeting: "Multiple traffic light failures in Cumbernauld Road/Stepps Road. Also Stepps Road at Rychazie and Bellroxk Street. Free for all."
Another commuter tweeted Glasgow City Council, saying: "Why is there not a single traffic light working in the charing cross/ Finneston area. I've almost crashed a good 3 times on the way to work."
The faults are in the process of being fixed, however, Glasgow City Council were not able to confirm a rough estimate of when the lights will be back up and running.
