Glasgow to welcome Asian-inspired restaurant and takeaway itsu

You might recognise the packaging from the frozen section at your local supermarket, but you could also be seeing itsu hit the city centre very soon.

The Asian-inspired food chain has applied for permission to open their second ever Scottish store in the city centre.

Glasgow customers will be able to eat in, takeaway and order for collection at the restaurant which will very conveniently be based on Gordon Street, close to Glasgow Central.

With branches in Soho, Chelsea, New York and Paris, the company is famous for its healthy dishes including sushi, gyoza, rich bowls and noodles all made on the spot.

Their menu is under 500 calories with a third of all dishes plant-based and costing less than £7.

The chain was founded by Julian Metcalfe, co-founder of sandwich chain Pret a Manger and founder of Metcalfe’s Food Company, in partnership with Clive Schlee.

The plans are due to go before Glasgow City Council's planning team so watch this space for more updates on the opening.
