Glasgow to Leipzig travel options as Rangers make Europa League semi-final

Rangers will face RB Leipzig of Germany as they progress to the Europa League semi-finals.

Thousands of Rangers fans will try and get tickets to see their side in their seventh European semi-final in their history, with Leipzig hosting Rangers in the semi-final first leg on April 28.

For Rangers supporters heading to Germany to see the game, what are the cheapest options for travel from Glasgow to Leipzig, Germany?

Unfortunately there is no direct flight from Glasgow Airport to Leipzig - a quick search on Skyscanner shows that if you're determined to fly from Glasgow, then expect at least an 11 hour journey, with one change of flight en route!

You can take a four hour trip from Edinburgh Airport the day before the match, which will include a change at Frankfurt Airport and will set you back £300 - so again, not ideal.

In good news however, a train from Berlin to Leipzig takes just one hour and twelve minutes.

To get to Berlin from Scotland however, is a little bit more difficult. There are no direct flights to Berlin from Glasgow on April 28 or in the days leading up to it - so you can't even bag yourself a slightly longer trip.

However, there is a flight from Edinburgh on the day of the match at 9.50am with a two hour flight time, meaning you'll be able to land in Berlin and get a train to Leipzig in time for the game.

The downside? It's an eye-watering £229.

The best way to get from Glasgow to Leipzig in our opinion is to get a direct flight with Lufthansa to Frankfurt before getting a train to Leipzig.

Direct trains to Leipzig from Frankfurt take around three hours - and with the direct flight coming in at £150 and the train at £36, it's certainly cheaper than heading to Berlin from Edinburgh.
