Glasgow Subway bosses have confirmed that they will look to extend their current operating hours once the full modernisation programme has been complete.
The news will no doubt be welcomed by Glaswegians, who have long campaigned for the underground network to extend its hours of operation.
Back in October last year, Glasgow Live reported how a temporary extension to Glasgow Subway hours to coincide with the COP26 climate summit sparked a petition calling for it to be made permanent amid widespread anger at the move.
At present the Glasgow Subway is open from 6.30am to 11.40pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 6.12pm on Sundays.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) confirmed that an extension of the Subway's operating hours will be considered once the move to driverless trains is made - a move scheduled to take place in 2023.
A spokesperson for SPT told Glasgow Live: “Once the full modernisation programme has been complete including Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) installed in all Subway stations so we can move to unattended train operation (UTO) - or driverless - we will be looking at extending our current operating hours.”
Back in May of 2019, Glasgow Subway took delivery of the first of 17 new trains to that will be equipped for driverless operations on the underground network. Testing of the new trains then got underway in December of last year.
The 39.25m-long trains have seating capacity for 118 passengers including 12 tip-up seats and 204 standing passengers.
