The organiser of a funfair in St Enoch Square has been warned after the event overran its licensed hours — but it will go ahead this year.
Glasgow’s licensing committee issued the warning to Irvin Stringfellow after the operator admitted there had been a “clerical error”.
He said a form had mistakenly stated the carnival would finish at 9pm in 2022, when usually the event would run until 10pm.

Councillors decided to grant a temporary public entertainment licence for this year’s funfair, which will cover the period between June 30 and July 30.
Documents revealed the carnival will include three adult rides, six juvenile rides and four stalls, and will have capacity for 250 people. They add the licence will cover 11am to 10.30pm.
Cllr Zen Ghani, who chaired the committee, said environmental health and building control officials were “satisfied” with the application, but councillors had questions.
“Previously you were given a licence and your event was operating past the times of your licence. Can you comment or clarify that please?”
Mr Stringfellow said he had ran the carnival for about 15 years but there had been a “clerical error” last year. “The licence has always been to 10pm, my son filled it out and put 9pm by mistake,” he explained.
He added the matter had been addressed “as soon as it was brought to our attention”. Mr Stringfellow also said surrounding shops “don’t seem to have any issues to my knowledge”.
“If there’s a problem, I will try to deal with it straight away,” he said.
Cllr Ghani said: “I’d just like to emphasise that it's important to abide by the conditions in your licence, the committee set the time for a reason, taking in multiple factors.”
The area covered by the fairground will be bounded by the St Enoch Shopping Centre, Howard Street, St Enoch Square and Argyle Street.
