A Glasgow city centre bank has suffered severe damage after being 'ram-raided' by thieves.

The break-in took place at the Bank of Scotland branch on Sauchiehall Street in the early hours of this morning.

Another eyewitness told Glasgow Live that they spotted emergency glaziers were on site along with police, with the bank's "doors off laid on the ground."

Police have confirmed that they were alerted to the scene around 3:30am this morning.

Enquiries into the break-in are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesman told Glasgow Live: "Officers were made aware of a break-in at a premises on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow around 3.30am on Sunday, 13 February, 2022. Enquiries are at an early stage.”

It comes as police continue their investigations into a spate of ATM attacks across the Central Belt which took place between January 30 and February 2 at cash machines in Milngavie, Ayr, Motherwell and Livingston.
