Discussions on a potential takeover of Mortons Rolls have been described as "positive".
The Glasgow firm ceased trading after entering administration last week, putting 250 jobs at risk and threatening to close the Drumchapel factory for good.
Calls were made for the much-loved company to be rescued with MSP Paul Sweeney warning that "time is of the essence" to secure the factory lease and jobs.

Mr Sweeney confirmed on Tuesday evening that the Scottish Government has agreed to meet with investors who want to buy Mortons Rolls.
He added: "I held positive talks with the government today (Tuesday) and they have agreed to meet with the investors aiming to save Morton's and protect the jobs at the factory. It is now for the government to ensure that a deal is done and that this famous Glasgow brand can survive for decades to come.”
Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken previously said that their priority is making sure workers facing job losses are supported "as quickly as possible".
She has also contacted Mortons Rolls' team to determine what led to their downfall.
In a tweet to her followers, she wrote: "I’ve been updated today by the @GlasgowCC team who are working with national agencies to mobilise support for the #Mortons workforce. Our number 1 priority is to support those facing redundancy into new jobs as quickly as possible and minimise any disruption to household incomes.
"The announcement has come out of the blue. A closure & job losses on this scale is a big blow to the local community & swift action is needed to mitigate it. @GlasgowCC has reached out to Morton’s management & I urge them to engage closely with us for the sake of their workers.
"We will also seek to establish what chain of events has led to this apparently sudden closure and whether any action or support may be provided to save jobs and continue production at the factory in the short term, while a possible longer term plan could be developed."
