Nothing makes Christmas that little bit more magical than waking up to snow, and bookies have already made their predictions as to Glasgow’s chances.
Endless songs and films have created a picture perfect snowy Christmas, though the reality is often a little different - depending on where you are in the world. Here in Glasgow, we’ve got a better chance than a lot of other cities in the UK, but what are bookies saying?
According to William Hill, Glasgow and Edinburgh are tied at 11-4 odds of enjoying a snowy Christmas. This makes the Scottish cities favourites, closest by some distance compared to all other locations in the UK.

Leeds and Belfast come in shared second, with 7-2 odds of snow on the 25th. The Met Office defines a White Christmas as: “One snowflake to be observed falling in the 24 hours of December 25.”
Commenting on the odds of White Christmas, William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “As we get closer to the big day, forecasters are starting to get a more accurate prediction on where we can expect snow.
“Naturally with Scotland being in the North, the odds have tumbled on Glasgow and Edinburgh, even though the country hasn’t seen snow on Christmas day since 2010 it is still the most likely according to forecasters.”
Additionally, a new study looking into total days of snow seen in each UK city, as well as White Christmases since 2000, suggests Glasgow is the third most likely city in the UK to get snowy weather on December 25.
The city in the UK most likely to enjoy a White Christmas, according to the study carried out by besteonlinecasinos.com, is Leeds. The English city has a 29.99 per cent chance, while runners up Newcastle have a 27.10 per cent chance.
Coming in third is Glasgow, with a 22.76 per cent chance of a White Christmas. Glaswegians see an average of 8.2 snowy days in December, and there have been three White Christmases since 2000 in the city.
