Plenty of us Glaswegians will openly admit to having a bit of a sweet tooth.
Maybe it all stemmed from our days growing up, splashing our pocket money at the local Woolworths pick n mix before dentists gave us and our parents a stern telling off.
But, as the oft-used Scottish phrase goes 'you've got to treat yourself' every now and then.
Thankfully, for a city that loves all things with an unhealthy dollop of sugar, there are plenty of places which will help satisfy that craving.

From our local bakeries to our ice cream vans and even those old-school sweet shops selling the likes of gobstoppers and soor plooms, we're always just a wee bit away from finding somewhere not so 'good' for us.
And when it comes to desserts, it seems the number one place to go to in the city to get your fix is a place that has been described by customers as 'a 'lovely haven on a dreich day'.
According to TripAdvisor, Glasgow's top-rated dessert spot is 'a wee gem in the heart of the city', an award-winning tea room which serves up the likes of choux buns, mini macarons and all manner of cupcakes, as well as much-raved about afternoon teas.
Scoring an impressive 4.5 out of 5 from over 1,700 customers on the travel review site, Cup Tea Rooms has created quite the buzz.
One recent visitor to the Renfield Street eatery, located just a short walk from Glasgow Central Station, said: "My friends and I are working our way round all the afternoon teas in Glasgow. Cup Tea Rooms is looking like a winner.
"The staff were absolutely delightful, attentive without being intrusive, and offering tea/coffee refills, as well as a box to take home what we couldn’t eat (there was nothing!)
"Everything was fresh and tasty. Steven and his staff are a credit to the establishment, thank you all."
Another satisfied customer said: "Superb from start to finish. Great service, friendly staff and lovely food with unlimited tea/coffee.
"Beautiful surroundings and although the table limit is 90 minutes we were not rushed and had plenty of time to relax and enjoy our treats.
"The decor is lovely (and the newly decorated bathrooms are great). "Cannot recommend highly enough - would love to come back."
A further visitor impressed with the atmosphere said: "The cakes were delicious, especially the lemon and poppyseed one. The staff were so friendly and helpful.
"The decor is gorgeous and the tiles add to the character of the building. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back."
Of course, if you're feeling hungry, you might want to do the whole afternoon tea experience, which some have described it as the best in Glasgow.
One review reads: "Visited with my mum for afternoon tea and it was the best we've experienced.
"From the friendly staff, lovely atmosphere inside to the food itself, I would definitely recommend a visit."
Another suggested: "This was my fourth visit to Cup and my parents' first - all agreed that the afternoon tea was the best we had ever had.
"The rolls were so soft and fresh with delicious fillings, the cakes were amazing and the scones warm and freshly baked."
For those unfamiliar with Cup, it also transforms into a popular gin bar in the evening, Gin 71, which gets a lot of love too. One recent TripAdvisor review said: "We had the tasting menu, second time having this and just as good as the first. Each course was tasty and presented beautifully.
"The staff were enthusiastic and knowledgeable, explaining each course and giving recommendations for the gins and mixers, which turned out lovely too. Can’t wait to go again!"
Either way, if this place isn't on your radar yet, it might be worth visiting the city's top rated-dessert spot and a little gem of a place', according to a further review; "Afternoon tea was a real treat, would not hesitate to tell any of our friends about it and would certainly recommend it.'
