Glasgow's Barras Market to host first ever late-night Pride Street Market

The Barras is set to host its first-ever Pride Street Market this summer.

Taking place on Thursday, July 27, the free event will create a unique late-night shopping experience in their open-air street market dedicated to celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.

The Barras team say the inaugural Pride Street Market will offer a diverse selection of products and services ranging from clothing to crafts, with shoppers able to find a range of items that honour the vibrant LGBTQ+ culture present.

They added that artists, creatives, and small business owners will all have the opportunity to showcase their unique creations.

In addition to the traditional merchant offerings, the event will also feature inspiring LGBTQ+ advocates, live music, and activities for all ages.

The team say they are thrilled to be able to provide the community with this new shopping experience, stating: "The Pride Street Market is about so much more than shopping; it's about creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone, it’s about connecting communities, it’s about providing a place for the community to come together in celebration of local culture and to support local producers.

"It will be a place where people can come together to show their pride, enjoy some art, and discover one-off goods."

Traditionally, the market will only open late at night at Christmas, but the team are excited to be able to extend this now to the summer for an event that they hope people will love.

The evening market will be dressed in festoon lighting to set the mood and adorned with colour.

The market will feature food trucks, live music and entertainment for all of the family, while resident traders such as Celebrate with Pride, Pop Up and Drag, Punts Pots, Pure Barkin and Alt Mojo are all set to take part too.

The team added: This exciting event is free for all the family, everyone is welcome including well-behaved dogs."
