MORNING rush hour trains in Glasgow have been cancelled due to an emergency incident that left a person "with life-changing injuries".

Early on Monday, ScotRail said emergency services were dealing with an incident between Springburn and Robroyston and Scottish Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS) confirmed there was an ongoing incident on the railway line.

SFRS said they were notified by British Transport Police at 6.53am and as of 7.50am, there were three appliances on scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed: “We were called to an area of the line in Springburn at around 7.45am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended along with paramedics and a person was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.”

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, it is understood.

A social media post from ScotRail said: “Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Springburn and Robroyston.

“Trains through the station will be cancelled, delayed or revised.

“We have ticket acceptance in place with Midland Blue bus between Glasgow via Denny & Cumbernauld and Falkirk – Glasgow via Bonnybridge & Cumbernauld.”

ScotRail customer operations director Phil Campbell said: “ScotRail services between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston have been disrupted this morning while the emergency services attend an incident along the route.

“Anyone who was delayed by 30 minutes or more is entitled to compensation through our delay repay guarantee.”
