They have moved up four rankings to number 26 in the UK from 30th place last year and is the highest ranked hospital in Scotland.

Newsweek’s top 100 hospitals recognises the best hospitals on a global scale across 28 different countries.

Neil McCallum, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's North Sector Director said: “I am delighted that the GRI has once again been recognised in these international rankings. It is testament to the dedication and hard work of all our staff at the hospital, and the way they consistently go above and beyond to provide exceptional care for our patients.

“We are all committed to providing world class healthcare across the North Sector and this award is a fabulous endorsement of our ongoing efforts to ensure we are meeting the needs of our patients and their families.

“Our hospital is steeped in history and to be ranked within the top thirty hospitals in the UK for two consecutive years further enhances our reputation as a world class facility.

“I would like to express my upmost appreciation to all of our staff who make the hospital thrive and a fantastic place to work.”

John Carson, North Sector Chief Nurse, added: “Our teams throughout the hospital work tirelessly to ensure the best possible patient care and they should be proud to receive such a prestigious award.

“The GRI is more than just a hospital and the teams and individuals have created a hugely positive culture that has rightly been recognised.”
